Things that you should know about Diabetes

Diabetes is a metabolic disease that increases the blood sugar in the human body. Due to diabetes, your body does not make insulin properly. Uncontrolled insulin can also damage different parts of the body such as the eyes, kidneys, and nerves.

Type 1 diabetes:

It is an autoimmune disease in which your immune system breakdown insulin-making cells in the pancreas. Only 10 percent of people have type1 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes:

This condition takes place when your body is resistant to insulin and sugar level increases in your blood. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition and it can further lead to different other diseases.

Pre-diabetes: It is a condition when your insulin level higher than normal but not so high to consider diabetes.

Gestational diabetes: It occurs during pregnancy, Insulin blocking hormones present in the placenta cause this diabetes.

Signs of diabetes

Increasing blood sugar level in the body is the major sign of diabetes.

  • Increased thirst
  • Weight loss
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Increase hunger
  • Frequent urination
  • Wounds that don’t heal

Causes of diabetes

Doctors don’t know the main reason behind type 1 diabetes. For some purposes, your immune system attacks the insulin-making cells in the pancreas. Type 2 diabetes can cause due to overweight, especially its causes by extra belly fat. Type 2 diabetes can also cause due to unhealthy lifestyles and genetics.

Risk factors of diabetes

  • Overweight
  • Age of 45 or more
  • Have diabetes in your genes
  • Not physically active
  • Have pre-diabetes
  • Have high cholesterol or high blood pressure

Diabetes can cause different chronic diseases. But if you focus on a healthy lifestyle and healthy routine you can easily manage your blood sugar levels. If you are at risk then discuss your condition with your physician and follow your doctor’s instructions for managing your insulin levels.
