Let’s jump onto the topic :
Routine visa services remain suspended in most US Embassies due to precautions and limited resources due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. Embassy continues to operate on reduced staffing and is continually evaluating the conditions necessary to resume full services.
Immigrant Visa (IV): The Embassy is currently processing limited numbers of the following:
Cases for applicants previously interviewed and refused under INA Section 221(g) for additional document submission or processing.
Interviews for any case with a derivative applicant who is turning 21 years old and/or risks losing eligibility as a child or derivative.
As capacity allows: Interviews for IR-1, CR-1, IW-1, IR-2, CR-2, IR-3, IH-3, IR-4, K-1/2, IH-4, IR-5, SB-1, and I-131A applicants whose cases are already at Post for processing.
Approved Expedited Cases
Visa interviews for all other immigrant visa categories are processed at slower rates until local conditions and capacity allows.
Please Note – Services to U.S. citizens continue to be available.

And as of early April, 75 percent of U.S. consulates abroad remained at least partially closed.
In January 2020, there was a backlog of 75,000 at US Embassy immigrant visas for those wishing to come to the United States; as of February 2021, the backlog had ballooned to 473,000.
Documents filed in a visa lawsuit show that during the month of January 2020, before the pandemic, the State Department scheduled 22,856 family-preference visa interviews, worldwide. This past January, it scheduled 262 — a drop of nearly 99%.
Even though President Joe Biden has moved to reverse many of his predecessor’s anti-immigration policies, the consequences of those restrictive measures linger and have contributed to a massive backlog of nearly 2.6 million visa applications (at USCIS , NVC & US Embassy).
The backlog includes nearly half a million applicants who are “documentarily qualified” and ready for interviews, according to a recent legal filing by the State Department. Backlogs in some immigrant-visa categories are 50 or even 100 times higher than they were four years ago, at the start of the Trump administration
