IPL 2021: Could Royal Challengers Bangalore break jinx to win the maiden IPL title? Check 3 TRUMP Cards that could power RCB- Royal Challengers Bangalore have had some world-class players in the squad over the years but they are still searching for their maiden IPL title. In IPL 2020, it seemed RCB would finally break the jinx having begun the campaign on a bright note. But they faltered and got eliminated from the tournament in the playoffs.
But RCB have bolstered their squad at the IPL 2021 auction with some fine buys. With Virat Kohli leading from the front and Ab de Villiers providing solidity in the top-order, RCB could just get going if the new recruit Glenn Maxwell fires and Kyle Jamieson offers them the wickets RCB are looking for. The three could be RCB’s Trump cards that if fire would power RCB.
IPL 2021- RCB key players: Virat Kohli
IPL Team 2021- Royal Challengers Bangalore
IPL Salary 2021- Rs 17 crore
Total IPL Income- Rs 143.2 crore
The India skipper has been IPL’s most successful batsman with 5,878 runs at an average of 38.16. He is the only player to have played for a single franchise since the inception of IPL in 2008. He has been successful in opening the innings and has done well in first down as well. But his success with the bat has not translated into the team’s success. But with the reinforcements — like every year — RCB are expected to push for the title once again. Could it be 14th time lucky?
IPL 2021- RCB key players: Glenn Maxwell
IPL Team 2021- Royal Challengers Bangalore
IPL Salary 2021- Rs 14.25 crore
Total IPL Income- Rs 63.4 crore
The Australian middle-order batsman who can bowl a bit of spin has been considered the trump card of IPL over the years. The moment came in 2014 when he scored 552 runs from 16 matches for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). But the all-rounder hasn’t been able to emulate that success in the IPL ever since. Picked up by RCB for a whopping Rs 14.25 cr, Maxwell is looking to get back to his top form and prove his worth once again. If he fires in the middle-order, RCB’s top-heavy batting could relax a bit and won’t succumb to the pressure. Maxwell could well be RCB’s trump card.
IPL 2021- RCB key players: Kyle Jamieson
IPL Team 2021- Royal Challengers Bangalore
IPL Salary 2021- Rs 14.25 crore
Total IPL Income- Rs 63.4 crore
The Kiwi pacer will debut in the IPL for RCB in 2021. While he does not have a proven track record in international cricket or the IPL, RCB paid a staggering sum of Rs 15 crore for the young bowler at the IPL 2021 auction. In T20s, the 26-year-old has 55 wickets in 369 matches with an impressive best bowling figure being 6/7. With RCB struggling in the bowling department for a long, Jamieson could be the one who could provide them with the solidity in the pace attack. If he gets going and partners Navdeep Saini for the opening spell, RCB could get the better of opponents.
