A Beginner’s Guide on How to Follow Modestly Chic Style

[ad_1]

While we respect a woman’s right to wear whatever she wants, I have always believed looking modestly chic is comfortable yet attractive in a good way. A modestly chic style is perfect for luncheons with friends, business casual days at the office, family get-togethers, and even first dates. Whether you want to pull off a relaxed look or something a little dressy, here are a few ideas for keeping up with the latest chic fashions in a modest way.

Modestly Chic Style: 7 Items to Consider

Button-Up Blouses

Button-up blouses are versatile tops that can be both casual and professional. Most styles in these blouses are not super form-fit, so they give a modest appearance to your chest area. You can also adjust how many buttons you want to keep fastened in the neckline. You can layer a blouse on top of a tank top for extra coverage when playing with how open you want the front to be. Button it all the way up for a day at the office, and then unbutton one or two from the top when you head out of the office for dinner with a friend.

Cardigans

Cardigans are another classic piece of an outfit that can wrap you in comfort while you’re relaxing on the couch or help you keep comfortable in a chilly office work environment. When you’re feeling a little exposed and too many eyes are on you, a cardigan is a fashionable way to wrap up and get comfortable again. There are so many different styles to choose from, like button-up, open front, pocketed, lightweight, heavyweight, extra length, and more. Cardigans are an essential piece for a modest wardrobe during the colder months. Mix and match them with different tops and bottoms for different looks every day of the week.

Layered Tops

Layering your tops can add an extra level of comfort and modesty while giving you the option to shed layers if desired. For example, a flannel blouse on top of a tight-fitting shirt with a high neckline gives you options to leave the front open, button up one-third of the way, or leave a button or two at the top undone. Or perhaps you have some deep-V neck shirts in your closet that show just a little too much skin. Layer it with a slim-fitting shirt underneath to keep it more modest.
I absolutely love Halftee Layering Fashion t-shirts, which you can wear underneath a sleeveless or a see-through dress. They can provide style and modestly at the same time. You can use my affiliate code: WASIFA AHMAD20 and get 20% off from their website here.

Wide Leg Pants

Tight-fitting pants can be hard to wear, especially if you have a few extra pounds you’re not proud of. I always look for comfortable pair of pants that are not too baggy and not too tight. Wide leg pants are the perfect flowy option to flatter your shape. You can find wide-leg pants in your standard button and fly combo that look great with a tucked-in shirt or blouse but consider an elastic waist for a casual version and pair them with an extra-long top.

Below-the-Knee Skirts

With below-the-knee skirts, you rarely have to worry about flashing someone when you’re sitting down or getting in and out of a vehicle. Though, you may want to skip a skirt on a windy day, especially if it has a flowy material. Slip skirts, pleated skirts, high-low skirts, gypsy style, wraparound, and ruffled skirts are all nice cuts that are modestly chic. This length of the skirt still lets you rock some adorable boots, too. Or, keep it casual with a nice pair of sandals for the warmer seasons or classy with high-heels for nighttime events.

Relaxed-Fit Jeans

Blue jeans are a timeless style of clothing, and it seems like they will always be popular. We’ve even seen jean jackets come back into style recently. A lot of jean styles are tight-fitting, like skinny jeans and boot cut. Relaxed-fit gives you that extra bit of room for your body to breathe. Grab a few pairs of relaxed-fit jeans in colors like black and tan, so you can mix and match them with the rest of your wardrobe.

Swimwear

You don’t have to wear a spaghetti strap bikini to fit in and look good. In fact, you can wear a two-piece swimsuit and still be modest. A tankini with boy shorts bottoms is a great way to go if you want to cover a bit more skin. A plain one piece can be alright too, but these days you can get your one piece in a dress style that looks super cute and gives your tush some coverage.

Being modestly dressed doesn’t mean you have to be covered from head to toe in baggy clothes. It does mean showing less skin than you would in a mini skirt or super short “shorts.” Still, it’s more about being confident when you’re around other people and knowing you can look fabulous without drawing unwanted attention by showing off more of yourself than you’re comfortable with. Modestly chic clothing leaves more to the imagination while flattering your figure and making you look stylish!
